View Tab

This tab allows the user to change a number of fields related to the current list of To Do items. These values will be saved, and restored whenever this file is re-opened.
The following controls are provided on this screen.
- View Name
- This is the name of the currently displayed view. You may type another name in here to change the name of the current view. The name(s) you type here will become the same name(s) you will see displayed on the View menu, to allow you to dynamically change views from the List Tab. You may also select another View from this field, using the drop-down menu feature. This has the same effect as selecting a different View from the View menu. The Show and Sort values selected below will then be associated with the named View, and may be changed at any time by selecting a different named View, either from the View menu, or from this field.
- +
- This button, to the right of the View Name, will create a new View and add it to the end of the list. The new view will appear with a default name, which you may then change.
- -
- This button, farther to the right of the View Name, will delete the currently displayed View. The currently open To Do list will then be associated with a different View.
- Show
- You may select any of the following options from the drop-down menu.
- All
- Shows all items on the list.
- Open & In Work Only
- Shows only items that are open or in work (hiding items that have been closed or canceled).
- Due in Next 30 Days
- Shows only open or in work items with Due dates in the next 30 days. Useful if your complete list is a bit overwhelming.
- Due In Next 7 Days
- Shows only open or in work items due in the coming week.
- Due Today
- Shows only open or in work items due today or in the past.
- Due in Next
- Shows only the items due in the next number of days. Enter the exact number of days you want to see in the following field.
- Days
- This field works in conjunction with the "Due in Next" selection on the Show drop-down. Enter the number of "look ahead" days for which you want to see items. The list will then show you only items due within that number of days.
- Sort Undated Items After?
- Checking this box will cause undated items (items with the default due date far in the future) to appear in your list after all dated items, as if they had a higher date. Leaving the box unchecked will cause undated items to appear before dated items, as if they had an earlier date.
- Sort Field 1 - 4
- You may specify as many as four sort fields. You may sort by any combination of the following fields: Status, Due Date, Priority, Assigned To, Sequence and Title. Simply select the desired fields from the drop-down menus provided. By pressing the appropriate radio button to the right of each field, you may choose to have it sort in ascending or descending sequence.
- Primary File?
- Click the check box to indicate that you wish the current data store to become your primary one. Your primary file should be your primary repository of To Do items. It must be a folder, and not a single file. This will be the first data store opened when you launch Two Due. It will also be the folder that holds files.txt, which is the list of all your Known files and folders and their View settings. You may only have one folder designated as your primary.
- Forget File?
- Check this box to have Two Due "forget about" the current file or folder (it will be dropped from the list of Known files and folders). To have Two Due later "remember" it again, you would need to re-open it using the "File / Open..." Menu item. If a file or folder no longer exists, then you can cause Two Due to "forget" about it by trying to open it from the "File / Open Known" sub-menu. At that point you will see a dialog box that will give you the option of having Two Due forget about the file or folder.
- Default Start Time
- This will be assigned as the default Start Time for new To Do items created within this list.
- This field can also be used in conjunction with the new "List / Schedule Start Times" menu item. If you set a Default Start Time for a particular file, using this field, and then set durations for items in that file, then the "List / Schedule Start Times" menu item will automatically schedule each item with a start time by adding the prior item's duration to its start time. The first item scheduled for each Due Date will be assumed to start at the Default Start Time, with following items scheduled successively. This function can be used to generate meeting agendas, for example.
When you are done specifying your View criteria, you would normally click on the List Tab to see the results of your changes.
The View options last set for a file will be saved in association with the name of the file, so that they can be restored when a file is selected from the File / Open Recent menu, or when the most recent file is automatically opened the next time the program is launched (see the File section for more information).
