Execution

Java Support

PSTextMerge requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE), also known as a Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The version of this JRE/JVM must be at least 1.3.1. Visit www.java.com to download a recent version.

Executable

The PSTextMerge program can be launched by opening a file named "PSTextMerge", followed by the executable file extension appropriate for your platform.

Associated Files and Folders

The following files will normally be located in the same folder as the PSTextMerge program itself.

about.html
This is a small HTML file describing the program. It can be viewed from the About tab within PSTextMerge itself, or can be viewed independently with a Web browser.
parms.txt
This is a small properties file containing information about your usage of PSTextMerge. It is not part of a normal distribution of the program, but is created by PSTextMerge when you register your copy on the About tab of the program. This file contains your registration information, and will need to be preserved when you install a new version of the program. If you are using a special normalization routine, then you will also need to add a line to this file that says "normalization=true", using your favorite text editor.
readme.html
A small file that can be read using a Web browser.
pstextmerge_icon_32.gif
A graphics icon used by PSTextMerge.
userguide
This is a sub-folder containing a complete user guide for PSTextMerge.

Command Line Parameters

PSTextMerge has two arguments which allow the program to be run completely from the command line, without any graphical user interface. The first argument is specified as "-q" and tells the program to run in "quiet mode" -- that is, without any GUI. When this option is specified, the log file will be written to disk, as described in the Logging section.

The second argument specifies the location and name of a script file to be played, the location being relative to the PSTextMerge program.

Together, these two options allow PSTextMerge to be executed from a script or batch file, without any user interaction.
