Navigation

Toolbar

A navigation toolbar is provided. By default, it appears at the top of the iWisdom window. However, you can grab it by its left or top, and move it around the window, or completely outside the window, to whatever location you find most convenient. It contains the following buttons.

Note that there are now two Tabs that display your list: the List Tab and the Categories Tab. Both views respect the filtering criteria and sort fields set on the View Tab, but on the Categories Tab the primary sequence is always Category. The following navigation keys work within whichever "list" view you most recently used. So if you most recently were on the Categories Tab, and selected an item there, then pressing the Next button will take you to the next item appearing on the Categories Tab, with similar but possibly different results if you last selected an item from the List Tab.

Note also that the navigation buttons will operate on whatever tab you currently have selected. Most commonly, you would use the navigation buttons while on the Display tab or the Edit tab.

+
This will create a new item with all fields set to their default values. This function is also available from the Item menu, or by pressing Ctrl/Cmd N.
-
This will delete the current item.
<<
This will select the first item in the list.
<
This will select the item just prior to the current one in the list. This function is also available from the Item menu.
>
This will select the next item. Note that Next and Prior will work from the location of the last item you selected, prior to any key changes that may have affected the location of the item in the list. This function is also available from the Item menu.
>>
This will select the last item in the list.
Add "
This will add enclosing quotation marks to the current item being edited.
Remove "
This will remove enclosing quotation marks from the current item being edited.
Scan
This will start the process of displaying a new item every few seconds (with the delay interval and other display parameters being controlled from the Preferences). Once you start the Scan, the button will say "End Scan", and pressing it again will stop the scanning process.
Find Text
Enter the text that you want to find.
Find
This will initiate a find command, using the text entered in the preceding box. The find command searches for all items in the currently displayed list that contain the find string in any text field. The search is not case-sensitive. If any matching items are found, then the Find function will take you to the first found item on the list. From this point, the user may use Find Again to move forward through the list of found items, Next and Prior to navigate forwards and backwards through the list. The record counts at the bottom of the screen will show how many items were found and where you are currently positioned within the list of found items. The label on this button will change to Again after the initial find, until different text is entered in the preceding find box.

You may also navigate through the list of records through the List Tab or the Categories Tab.

Note that the bottom center portion of the iWisdom window will tell you the current item number you have selected and the total number of records. These numbers will appear in the following format: "10 of 57".
