News Release: 2003-Jan-12FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PowerSurge Publishing Version 2.4 of TDF Czar Improves File Directory Import AbilitiesScottsdale, AZ -- January 12, 2003 -- PowerSurge Publishing has just released version 2.4 of its flagship product, TDF Czar. The new release includes several enhancements that improve the product's ability to read file directory information. Multiple directory levels can now be imported. Each level of the imported directory structure appears as a separately labeled column, for easier manipulation. File names are now also broken down into apparent words, again for easier manipulation. The last file modification date is now broken out from the time of day, again -- you guessed it -- for easier manipulation. Both date and time fields are now formatted from major to minor sub-fields internally, to enable more meaningful sorting. As in past releases, file directory information can be exported in tab-delimited or HTML formats, and can be merged with other information not present in the directory itself, such as file descriptions. This release also includes a couple of enhancements unrelated to file directories. A new merge option allows column headings to be specified in a separate file. This can aid in importing tab-delimited files produced by programs that don't offer the option to include column headings in their file exports. Additionally, the HTML import function has been made more useful by adding the ability to automatically convert the most common HTML character entities to their ASCII equivalents. TDF Czar is a software package that empowers its users to perform many useful functions with tab-delimited data files. This is a common format for tabular data that can be read and written by many different programs, including database, spreadsheet and address book applications. TDF Czar can input, sort, filter, merge and output such data. Scripts can be easily recorded to automate repetitive operations. One of TDF Czar's most popular and powerful features is the ability to merge tab-delimited data into specially formatted HTML templates, generating custom Web pages fully populated with the user's data. This scheme allows the dynamic, changing portion of a Web page to be easily separated from its static format, so that each portion can be more easily maintained in a source program suited to the data type. When the dynamic data changes, TDF Czar can quickly regenerate the Web page with the latest data. TDF Czar is written in Java and is available for all major computing platforms, including Mac OS X, Windows, and virtually all versions of Unix. A demo version of the program can be downloaded from the PowerSurge Publishing Web site, at www.powersurgepub.com. The demo version has all functions fully enabled for an unlimited period of time, but will only process a maximum of 20 data records. A single-user license is available for US $20. See the company Web site for further information. ###
